With the first two weeks of the 2023 NFL season almost in the books, with two games set to be played on Monday night, the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys are starting to separate themselves from the pack in the NFC.

These two NFC heavyweights have some of the most balanced squads in the league, with the Cowboys having arguably the best defense and the 49ers sporting a potent offense led by second-year quarterback Brock Purdy.

The defense has stolen the show from Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense, with Dallas playing at a high level on offense.

According to David Lombardi of The Athletic, Prescott and Purdy are tied for the best QBR in the league right now, which is impressive, to say the least.

If the 49ers and Cowboys can continue to play at an elite level in the coming weeks, the game of the year might end up taking place on October 8, with San Francisco playing host to Micah Parsons and company.

It seems as though the winner of the NFC will have to go through the Cowboys or 49ers, as these two teams have shown no signs of slowing down, and both have lived up to the hype up to this point in the season.

For the 49ers, it has been somewhat of a vindication moment for head coach Kyle Shanahan, who took a chance on Purdy, and it continues to pay off with Mr. Irrelevant still playing elite football after offseason surgery.
