The New York Yankees will have a hard time making a serious postseason run unless they replace Luis Severino in the rotation.
It’s a sad, shocking reality since he was so good last year (3.18 ERA in 102 innings).
However, he started the year on the injured list with a lat strain and hasn’t been the same since returning.
His record fell to 2-5 on Sunday as he allowed nine runs on 10 hits and two walks over 3.1 innings against the Baltimore Orioles.
The pitcher, when talking to the media after the game, said one of the most heartbreaking quotes of the year: “I feel like the worst pitcher in the game,” per Fireside Yankees.

The painful truth is that he has been among the worst hurlers in baseball to this point.
He owns a highly disappointing 7.49 ERA in 57.2 frames this season.
In fact, his ERA went from 6.46 to 7.49 after the disastrous Orioles outing.
No one has answers to what’s happening to Severino: not the pitcher, and certainly not the Yankees.
It’s puzzling to see a 29-year-old pitcher with a 3.73 career ERA struggling so badly.
He has conceded seven or more earned runs in three of his last five outings.
As the quote indicates, his confidence level is at an all-time low and there might not be enough time for him to right the ship.
The Yankees need a more reliable starter to push for the postseason, and perhaps it would be a good idea to consider a move to the bullpen.
The problem is that they don’t have too many other starters to choose from.
