For 13 years, Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors were a match made in heaven.
His tenure with his fellow Splash Brother Stephen Curry will go down as one of the greatest this game has ever seen, as the two greatest shooters of all time coexisted at the same time and on the same core for over a decade.
Still, all good things eventually come to an end, and Thompson’s tenure with the team wasn’t the exception to the rule.
That’s why coach Steve Kerr got a little emotional when asked about his departure (via Warriors on NBC Sports).
”Klay is going to have a statue outside Chase someday … he’ll be beloved by his teammates, coaches and our fans forever.”

Kerr admitted that it was tough to watch his pupil leave.
Nonetheless, he knows the love and respect his teammates, the organization, and the fans have for him will never waver, adding that he’s definitely going to have a statue outside of CHASE Center in the future.
Thompson’s stint in the Bay came to a rocky end as he didn’t care for the way the front office handled his contract situation, especially after watching everybody else around him get paid.
He did everything in his power to stay, even making a last-second pitch, but the Warriors just weren’t interested.
He also reportedly urged Stephen Curry not to exert his power or leverage to get the Warriors to pay him, as he wanted the team to actually want him there.
Now, he’ll look to prove them wrong by teaming up with Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic, and the Warriors will hope they don’t end up regretting the tough decision.
