Savi Davison wins first MVP after latest PLDT title win

MANILA, Philippines — Savi Davison raised her first-ever PVL MVP trophy–the icing on the cake–after leading PLDT to a second straight title.

The Filipino-Canadian spiker capped PLDT’s run after sweeping the On Tour, becoming the club’s first MVP.

Despite sitting out in the Invitational opener, Davison was still the tournament’s third leading scorer with a total of 94 points off 81 kills, nine blocks, and four aces.

She was the No. 2 best spiker with a 38.57% attack rate, third in service with 0.22 aces per set, sixth in blocking with 0.50 blocks per set, and seventh in reception with 30.0% efficiency.

Komatsuda Nagisa, who had a tournament-high 31 points in their reverse sweep of Chery Tiggo to reach the final, was the Best Outside Spiker after leading all scorers with 104 points and all spikers with 39.26% attack rate.

Jema Galanza won her sixth overall Best Outside Spiker after being the second-best scorer with 99 points. She was also third in receiving with 45% efficiency and fifth in digging with an average of 2.36 digs per set.

Kobe Shinwa’s captain Sakura Furuta was the Best Setter of the Invitational after leading her department with 5.84 excellent sets per frame. She was also fourth in service with 0.21 aces per set.

Chery Tiggo’s Ara Galang won her maiden award in the PVL as the tournament’s Best Opposite Spiker after scoring a total of 69 points as the eighth best scorer and finished fourth in blocking with 0.55 blocks per set.

Rookie Riza Nogales of ZUS Coffee was named as Best Middle Blocker after running third in blocking with 0.59 blocks per set. She was also seventh in service with 0.18 aces per set

Creamline’s Pangs Panaga captured her eighth Best Middle Blocker plum after topping the blocking department with 0.91 blocks per set and tallying 51 points as the 12th best scorer.

PLDT captain Kath Arado claimed a league-high fifth Best Libero award, after being the tournament’s Best Digger with 5.0 digs per set and second Best Receiver with 55.56% efficiency.
