The Green Bay Packers are banking on a defensive transformation this season.
The addition of edge rusher Micah Parsons has created a buzz around the team that extends far beyond the practice field.
His presence has already shifted the energy in Green Bay. The defense looks different with him anchoring the pass rush.
Defensive end Rashan Gary witnessed Parsons in action during his first practice. His assessment painted a clear picture of what opposing offenses should expect.
“Just looking at a couple reps No. 1 (Parsons) had today, it’s gonna be real crazy and scary for teams,” Gary told reporters in the locker room, per Ari Meirov.

Parsons brings the versatility that Jeff Hafley’s defensive scheme demands. He can rush from the edge or move inside to attack the pocket.
This flexibility creates problems for offensive coordinators trying to account for his movement.
His ability to disrupt early downs sets up favorable situations for the entire defense. Second and long becomes a common scenario when Parsons applies pressure consistently.
Green Bay’s secondary benefits from the added pressure on opposing quarterbacks. The mix of veterans and younger players should see more opportunities with the improved pass rush.
Kenny Clark’s departure left questions about the defensive line. Parsons helps answer those concerns with his ability to generate pressure from multiple spots.
The linebacker is managing a sprained L4/L5 facet joint but continues participating in practice sessions. His involvement suggests the injury won’t sideline him long-term.
Parsons could provide the spark needed for Green Bay to compete in what promises to be a competitive season.
