The Philadelphia 76ers are undergoing some drastic changes during this NBA offseason, with the team changing head coaches and presumably being on the verge of trading one-time NBA MVP James Harden.

Although the team has yet to resolve the Harden situation, with no telling when he’ll be traded elsewhere, new head coach Nick Nurse is focusing on the players he’s expected to have to start the 2023-24 NBA season, namely Joel Embiid.

After having the best season of his NBA career, Embiid wants the team to take it to another level next season, and Nurse seems to already have a plan to make that happen.

The 76ers newcomer wants the reigning NBA MVP to play more games moving forward, which is an interesting twist but couldn’t come at a better time with the rule changes in the league to get star players to play more games, especially if they want to be eligible for regular-season awards, via Sixers Wire and NBACentral.

It’ll be interesting to see this new philosophy that Nurse plans to implement in Philadelphia and if Embiid and the team’s new head coach see eye-to-eye moving forward.

At the very least, it’s a good sign that Nurse has a plan moving forward involving his superstar, but there’s no telling how it will go down.

With the start of NBA training camps right around the corner, the 76ers will hope to take care of the Harden situation while seeing what they’ll get in return in a blockbuster trade.
