Michael Irvin Reveals How NBA Can Fix Dunk Contest

The NBA is hard at work attempting to change All-Star Weekend, hoping to appeal to the fans more than they have over the last few years.

People haven’t been happy with the weekend or the All-Star Game, and the league is eager to make things a lot better in 2025-26 and beyond.

Michael Irvin has an idea about how to improve the dunk contest, but it’s unlikely the NBA will listen to him.

He thinks that players from the NFL should be included in the contest.

“The way you can bring back the NBA Dunk Contest is, making it NFL players. I guarantee you, you let NFL players, you let a Myles Garrett get in that thing,” Irvin said.

This would definitely get people talking and would likely bring in more viewers, but it wouldn’t fix all of the issues of the All-Star Game and All-Star Weekend.

Fans feel that All-Star events aren’t competitive enough, and that players don’t really care about any of it.

They want there to be passion and high energy in everything, from the dunk contest to the actual game.

There are also many complaints about the number of advertisements throughout the weekend.

Additionally, some people are unhappy about how many celebrities pop up during the weekend, so Irvin’s concept might not go over very well.

Fans want a strong focus on straight-up basketball, so bringing in NFL stars might only upset them.

The league will consider just about any idea in order to fix All-Star Weekend.

They might bring in other kinds of athletes, change the rules, or choose another option.

They know people aren’t satisfied, and they want fans excited about All-Star Weekend again.
