As EuroBasket 2025 goes on, some NBA stars are finding newfound attention and glory.
One of them is Neemias Queta, who has been playing well for his Portuguese team.
Queta’s former teammate, Kristaps Porzingis, recently played against Queta, and he had great praise for him.
He also talked about Queta earning a starting spot with the Celtics in the new season.
“Starter? Good question. Who else is there? Honestly, I haven’t really thought about their roster. But what I can say is that Neemy has been getting better every year. Coach Mazzulla has been pretty tough on him, and I believe he’s getting to a point where he deserves some real minutes, real rotation minutes. He’s been putting in the work, and you can see it in how he’s playing now in this tournament. I’m happy for Neemy. He’s a great dude, really cool person. He puts in the time, he puts in the work, and I’ll be glad to see him get a lot more minutes this year,” Porzingis said.
Porzingis was asked about Neemias Queta starting for the Celtics today after Latvia/Portugal: “Starter? Good question. Who else is there? Honestly, I haven’t really thought about their roster. But what I can say is that Neemy has been getting better every year.…” (1/2)

Queta has been with the Celtics for two years and averaged 5.0 points and 3.8 rebounds across 62 games in 2024-25.
He played for an average of 13.9 minutes per game, but that number is sure to grow in the new year.
That’s because the Celtics have been hard at work making some pretty big changes to the roster.
One of the biggest names they parted with was Porzingis, who is now going to play for the Atlanta Hawks.
Additionally, the Celtics could also say goodbye to Al Horford, who is reportedly linked to the Golden State Warriors.
That means Boston will have a big void in their frontcourt, which could work in Queta’s favor.
But head coach Joe Mazzulla won’t go easy on him, and he will have to earn every single minute.
His run during EuroBasket is promising so far, but the upcoming season will be much more difficult.
