The 2024 NFL season was riddled with injuries for the San Francisco 49ers.
They couldn’t seem to catch a break in this area, as it felt like all of their notable players were stricken with injury at one point or another.
One of their best players, Christian McCaffrey, only played in four games due to his injuries, which put a damper on their rushing attack.
Many believed McCaffrey was fully healthy heading into the 2025 campaign, especially fantasy football players, who confidently drafted him as a first-round pick.
While McCaffrey has had lots of success at the NFL and fantasy levels, a recent injury update could once again call that impact into question.
As Ari Meirov noted on X, McCaffrey is suffering from another calf injury, which limited him in practice on Thursday.

Being limited on the Thursday before a Sunday game doesn’t automatically rule a player out, but at the very least, this is troubling news to the fanbase and fantasy players alike.
This is the second-straight year that McCaffrey has dealt with a calf injury, which could be a sign that this is going to nag him for the rest of his career.
Calf injuries aren’t as common in the NFL as ankle or leg injuries, so they aren’t talked about as much around the league.
McCaffrey’s calves have clearly been bothering him lately, so it will be interesting to see how he plays through this pain and if he’s going to get back on track soon.
