The New York Knicks are one team that surprised many NBA fans last season.
They were not expected to do much but did make it to the Eastern Conference semifinals.
One player that played a major role in their success was point guard Jalen Brunson.
He was one of the most improved players in the NBA last year.
Plus, it was just his first season in New York.
He saw his points per game increase from 16.3 to 24.0.
Being able to start every game for the first time in his career helped.
He showed what he can do as a full-time starter and he played at an All-Star level.
Many fans are taking the day to celebrate Brunson because it is his 27th birthday.

Currently, Brunson is spending his offseason playing for Team USA.
He is trying to lead the United States to a gold medal in the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
Brunson’s contract with the Knicks is starting to look like a steal.
He signed a four-year, $104 million deal before last season.
But with how he has played just about every team would be willing to pay him that.

It would be a surprise if Brunson is not named an All-Star in the coming years.
He should be in line for another high-usage season and the Knicks will be counting on him.
Now at the age of 27, it seems like the best has yet to come.
