Draymond Green Says His Suspension Helped The Team

The Golden State Warriors were without one of their best players for quite a while.

Draymond Green was suspended twice, with the second suspension being indefinite.

He missed 12 games because of his flagrant two foul on Jusuf Nurkic, as the league tried to set a precedent after all the controversial situations he had been tangled up in over the years.

The Warriors went 7-5 in those games, and his absence pretty much forced Steve Kerr to make some adjustments.

That’s why, following the Warriors’ win over the Utah Jazz, the former Defensive Player of the Year admitted to thinking that his suspension was a blessing in disguise for his team (via Anthony Slater).

“Honestly getting suspended helped. JK’s taken off. Bona fide #2 for this team…Our offense don’t look the same like it used to,” Green said.

While he claimed that he obviously didn’t want to get suspended or thought it was a good thing, it actually helped Jonathan Kuminga break out and become a bona fide No. 2 scoring option for the team.

He also thinks other players stepped up big time and helped coach Kerr find some depth.

The Warriors stood pat at the trade deadline.

Despite all the rumors about all the big moves they could and should make, they decided to keep this roster together because they still think they can make a run once Chris Paul is back to full strength.

Andrew Wiggins has been slightly better, and while Klay Thompson hasn’t been very good as of late, he claimed that he would be open to taking a lesser role for the team’s sake.

The Warriors have a lot of catching-up to do in the Western Conference, but they’ve looked better lately, and you can never count out a team like them.
