The Los Angeles Lakers sounded the alarms during the first game of the season.
LeBron James reached the 29-minute mark, and coach Darvin Ham hinted at that being a season-long plan.
Notably, that has been the only time this season that James hasn’t been on the floor for his usual minutes, and it was more than evident that he wasn’t on board with that plan to begin with.
James and Anthony Davis are having high usage night in and night out, and given LeBron’s age and Davis’ never-ending injury woes, that’s a big concern.
However, when asked about that, Ham simply said that both players are playing heavy minutes because they both want to be on the floor and continue playing at a high level (via Spectrum SportsNet).

Ham has looked powerless and in over his head this season, which is something that often times happens with lesser-profile guys coaching LeBron James.
Crossing the franchise player isn’t the smartest move if you’re looking to keep your job, but that trend of being passive and a bit of a bystander has also led to conflicts in the past.
If Ham and the coaching staff decide that they need to take their minutes down a notch, then so be it; they’re the ones in charge, not the players.
Also, if this team needs Davis and LeBron on the floor for 40+ minutes a night to limp its way into the playoffs, then things might not look very good for them at all.
