The Boston Celtics lost two key veterans in the offseason.
Marcus Smart’s grittiness, toughness, leadership, and defense will definitely be missed.
As for Grant Williams, he was an underrated player, but he was their glue guy and one of the most respected figures in the locker room.
However, with him now gone, Derrick White actually believes the gym has gotten a lot quieter, and he’s actually thankful for that (via Celtics NBC Sports Boston).
”I feel like JT has stepped up. He’s not being like Grant or nothing, thank God”

When asked about the new dynamics in the locker room, he stated that Jayson Tatum has stepped up as a leader, but he’s not as loud as Williams was.
Williams has made a name for himself around the league for his brains and dedication, even becoming the first vice-president of the National Basketball Players Association.
But he’s also a bit of a troll, as he showed by flexing his muscles after every question during the Dallas Mavericks’ media day a couple of days ago.
Williams was one of the first guys off the bench for Joe Mazzulla.
He won them a huge playoff game vs. the Milwaukee Bucks with his three-point shooting, and he was the kind of player who could do a little bit of everything and just play within his role with no complaints.
While not an All-Star-caliber player, Williams is the kind of role player who can end up playing a major role in a given playoff series, and the Celtics will miss his play, even if they don’t miss him being loud in the gym.
