Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime reaches final in Montpellier

Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime is through to the final of the Open Occitanie tennis tournament in Montpellier, France.

Auger-Aliassime advanced with a 6-4, 7-6 (4) victory over Jesper de Jong of the Netherlands during Saturday’s semifinals.

The second-seeded Auger-Aliassime fired 12 aces and won 74 per cent on first serve.

Auger-Aliassime awaits the winner between top-seeded Andrey Rublev and Aleksandar Kovacevic.

The 24-year-old from Montreal won his sixth ATP Tour title in Adelaide last month and holds a 9-2 record on the season.

He joined Jannik Sinner (33) and Carlos Alcaraz (31) as the only players born since 2000 to reach 30 tour-level semifinals.

Auger-Aliassime reached the semifinals of the Montpellier tournament last year, losing in three sets to Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik.
